Social Studies Teacher

Job Description:
•    Teach social studies to middle school English Language Learners in grades 6, 7, and 8 using a systematic understanding of global civilizations and societies with an emphasis on history, geography, and politics.
•    Design innovative lesson plans according to curricular requirements.
•    Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
•    Assign and correct homework related to the curriculum.
•    Prepare and administer quizzes, tests, and other student assessments as needed. 
•    Evaluate academic and social growth of students by keeping appropriate records via online management systems.
•    Communicate with parents and school administrators on student progress.
•    Actively engage with administration and teaching staff on various classroom-based projects and school-wide activities.
•    Follow and comply with ethical teaching standards and safety regulations.

Qualifications, Experiences and Skills:
•    Master’s degree in social studies education or the social sciences (anthropology, archaeology, communication studies, economics, history, human geography, linguistics, political science, psychology, public health, or sociology) and at least 1 year of experience in middle school education. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in any of the above subjects with 3 years of experience in middle school education may also apply.
