Craft and Fine Art Instructor

Position: Craft and Fine Art Instructor

Job Description:
•    Use techniques such as painting, drawing, sculpting, fibers and digital design.
•    Develop creative ideas or new methods to help students make art.
•    Create sketches, templates, or models to guide student’s work.
•    Select which materials to use on the basis of color, texture, strength, and other qualities.
•    Shape, join, or cut materials for a final product.
•    Use visual techniques, such as composition, color, space, and/or perspective to produce desired artistic effects.
•    Develop portfolios highlighting students’ artistic styles to showcase their abilities.
•    Plan individual lesson plans, comprehensive unit plans and overall schemes of work for students.
•    Communicate and build rapport with parents and students in class.
•    Monitor the progress of students so that their needs can be identified and lessons can be adjusted accordingly.
•    Develop networks and collaborations with others working in art education.
•    Arrange a series of display opportunities for students to show their artwork to peers, school staff, and relatives.
•    Expand own artistic experience by participating in professional development and personal studio practice.
•    Become familiar with other artistic styles by developing and expanding existing skills.
•    Ensure adherents to excellent teaching standards.

Qualifications, Experiences and Skills:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in Fine Art.
•    High standards of professionalism and professional ethics.
•    Recognition of the diversity in cultures and nationalities within the school.
•    Open-mindedness and willingness to try new directions and be flexible.
•    Excellent self-management and organizational skills.
•    Patience, perseverance and excellent communication skills – a lot of time will be spent with a range of students at different artistic levels, as well as with their parents.
•    Enjoy working with children in a fun and safe environment.
•    Ability to prioritize workloads and to inspire children and adults with an enthusiasm for learning.
•    Good team-player attitude with a strong ability to communicate with a diverse teaching and administrative staff.
